“God gave me the man who killed my father to be like a father to me and a grandfather to my children.”"

I’ve been waiting for this story in Christianity Today to be available online. It is astounding and captivating to see what has happened to the South American Auca Indians since their tribesmen killed five American missionaries (including Jim Elliot) back in the 50s. Go read it - you won’t be disappointed.

The story is also the subject of a movie, End of the Spear, due in theaters this Friday (January 20). I just watched both trailers at the website, and they are powerful. I hope it comes to our little theater in town.

My first thought when I read your title was “yuck.” (Been seeing too much publicity on murderers and rapists getting out after 30 days in jail and the like.) When I read what it was referring to, though, I was glad to hear. I’ve always wondered what the follow-up story was.

I led with that line because I was so blown away by it when I got to the end of the CT story. I was hoping that it was intriguing rather than offputting, but since I already understood the context, the latter didn’t occur to me.
