Easter Week at Western
It’s a short week here at WCU. We have Thursday and Friday off for Easter. After five years, I’m still amazed that a state institution takes two days off for a blatantly Christian holiday.
Still, it gives me some time to catch up (at both work and home), and the students love it (well, okay, I have never heard them say, “I love this Easter break!” But you know they do.)
I can’t believe this semester is coming to a rapid close. There will be two more weeks after Easter. Then finals, then, … what?
Stay tuned later this week to find out. Could be some interesting reading coming up.
…..
No, really.

Ooh, good job building tension there David.
I’m not surprised that WCU takes Easter off, because I’m sure the higher-ups realize the amount of travelling and whatnot that students do. I *am* a little surprised that they actually call it “Easter”. Is that what it’s actually called?
(Then again, the word “Easter” doesn’t really connote anythign Christian anymore… I have a Daddyspeak post coming up about that.)

Robert:
Indeed it is called Easter Holiday. See for yourself here (scroll down to near the bottom).
I look forward to your post on Easter. I thought I might get some pushback on referring to Easter as “blatantly Christian,” but I’m not convinced it’s been as commercialized as, say, Christmas.
