Happy Anniversary!

Robert at brightMystery announces that today is his fifth wedding anniversary. Congratulations to both Robert and Cathy on five years of wedded bliss.

I checked, and the traditional gift for the fifth anniversary is wood. Robert, if you’re still looking for gifts (and you had better not be!), here are some ideas.

Robert is one of the more thoughtful writers I’ve encountered in the blogosphere. One of the reasons I blog is to force myself to become a better writer. To be able to express ideas about college teaching, math, fatherhood, and Christianity as eloquently as Robert wouldn’t be a bad goal. If you haven’t checked out his blog, be sure to stop by.

Thanks for the props, David. Actually I was wondering, which anniversary has “bits” for its traditional gift? That way I could count my blog post today as a gift, or give software or something. (would that be the 10th anniversary? ha! geek humor!)

With a new little one around, we’ve declared an indefinite moratorium on anniversary gifts in order to save money. We “settled” for a nice dinner out at our favorite restaurant which we hadn’t been to since before we got Lucy, plus a couple of schmoozy cards. We’re both the type that values time over stuff.

We do much done the same thing and have done so since the beginning (we celebrate our ninth in October). We always try to do something special, but we don’t exchange gifts.
